De Lijn adjusted its fares on 1 February 2011. It is an adjustment of the fares for passes and multiple trip tickets sold in advance. Drivers will no longer sell multiple trip tickets as of 1 February 2011. The price of a ticket for a single trip and an SMS ticket have not changed.
The passes got an index adjustment of 1.7% on average. An Buzzy Pazz (youth pass for -24 years old) now costs 168 euro per year, an Omnipas (25-59 years old) 219 euro and an Omnipas 60+ (60-64 years old) 190 euro.
The journey price of a Lijnkaart and Lijnkaart % sold in advance has been adjusted for the first time since 2006. With a Lijnkaart a journey of 1 or 2 zones now costs 0.90 euro; for three zones and more you pay 1.60 euro. With a Lijnkaart % a journey of 1 or 2 zones costs 0.70 euro, and 1.20 euro for a journey of three zones and more.
The Lijnkaart and Lijnkaart % will not be sold by drivers as of 1 February 2011. This is part of De Lijn's policy to improve circulation by reducing the sale of tickets on the vehicle as much as possible. The move is also a result of limited sales: only 3% were sold by drivers, 97% of the multiple trip tickets are sold in advance. Those who fail to purchase a ticket in advance can purchase an SMS ticket about 25% cheaper than purchasing a ticket from the driver.
To reduce the paperwork for claimants, the 3-month Omnio-WIGW pass will disappear. This is a social pass for widows, invalids, pensioners, orphans and Omnio claimants. Because the Omnio attestation is only valid for three months, claimants must request a new attestation from their health insurance company for each renewal. An annual pass for 30 euro is 10 euro cheaper and they have less paperwork. There are currently 400 3-month Omnio-WIGW passes in circulation. That is 0.5% of the 83,000 Omnio-WIGW passes.
