Bus stops Stationsplein and Brandariskaai Oostende will be moved temporarily

23/4/2010Bus stops Stationsplein and Brandariskaai Oostende will be moved temporarily

Due to works around the station in Oostende the bus stops that were located there will be moved from April 26 2010.

Both bus stops for the city busses (which are now located on the stationsplein) and those for the regional busses (which are now located behind the De Lijn Brandaris building) will be moved temporarily to the Leopold III-laan.

Tram stops, Coastal tram stops and Lijnwinkel will not be moved

The tram stops will not be moved and will remain accessible at the Brandaris building of De Lijn. The Coastal tram stops will also remain in the same place.

De Lijnwinkel in the Brandaris building will remain open.

Temporary bus station on the Leopold III-laan

Although the bus station on the Leopold III-laan is a temporary bus station, De Lijn has made major investments in the infrastructure.

In this way temporary stops are accessible for people with disabilities and people with pushchairs and the comfort of the traveller while waiting is guaranteed thanks to the shelters available on the Ernest Feysplein and the Stationsplein.

The bus station has 14 platforms and is fully equipped with electronic real-time platform signs. The electronic overview signs that are currently displayed on the Brandaris building, will also be transferred to the bus station.

During the course of the execution of the works on the station project De Lijn will open a brand new, large and comfortable bus station on the Brandariskaai and a covered tram station under the new multi-storey car park being built next to the railway station.

De Lijn provides information

We are investing a lot of resources to provide clear information to travellers, neighbourhood residents and other stakeholders concerning the various phases in the project.

For that reason we have used the standard local media of the city of Oostende (such as De Grote Klok and the Werkin-Zicht-website) to inform residents.

A leaflet with text and map is distributed via the public buildings in the city.

Pass holders and school management are informed via a mailing and local residents around the station received a residents' newsletter.

Concretely information signs and arrows show the way on site to the temporary bus station.
