To purchase an SMS ticket you SMS an order code before boarding the vehicle to the phone number 4884. For an SMS ticket of 60 minutes that is ‘DL’; for an SMS ticket of 120 minutes ‘DL120’. After a few seconds you will receive a confirmation SMS and this counts as a ticket. During the validity period of the SMS ticket the passenger can transfer as frequently as he wants. If the journey lasts longer, the passenger must purchase a new SMS ticket or another ticket.
Just like for other De Lijn tickets, it is important that the customer purchase an SMS ticket before boarding the vehicle.
If several people travel together, each person must purchase an SMS ticket. Since they are saved on one mobile phone, these people must stay together throughout the entire journey. If one person in the group interrupts his journey then the others must keep the mobile phone with them for the duration of the journey.
An SMS ticket costs € 1.30 for 60 minutes and € 2.10 for 120 minutes. An additional € 0.15 is charged for telecom costs. The SMS ticket for 60 minutes is up to 28% cheaper than a ticket from the driver. The SMS ticket is invoiced via the mobile phone bill or deducted from the calling credit.
The SMS ticket is paid for via your mobile phone operator. Customers from BASE, Mobistar, Proximus and Telenet can all purchase an SMS ticket. Click here for a list of all mobile phone operators by which you can buy an sms-ticket (pdf).
