Practical

How to request one?

Did you know that you can purchase or renew a season ticket from your own home? You can do this in three ways:

Payment via the bank

If De Lijn has already sent you a bank transfer form then you can renew your current season ticket by making the payment. After your payment is registered you will receive your new season ticket within seven days.

Online

You can also purchase or renew your season ticket online (Dutch version). You need an electronic ID card (eID) and an ID card reader.

If you order a season ticket for yourself or for one or more family members then you do not have to look for the best formula.
Are you eligible for a family discount? Does your municipality act as a third party payer? We automatically calculate the most economical price for you.

Ordering your season ticket online saves time too. An online order is easier: you do not have to send us a copy of your ID card. If you order season tickets for several family members you do not have to provide a family composition attestation.

You can pay with a credit card, via Bancontact, PC banking or a bank transfer.

Those ordering a season ticket via our website will receive it three days later (not applicable for payment via bank transfer).

In writing

You can request a new season ticket in writing from De Lijn's Subscription Service. At least 2 weeks before the starting date you must send a copy of your ID card and a completed  via post, e-mail or fax to the Subscription Service.

Lijnwinkel

You can also pass by one of our Lijnwinkels. You show your ID card, pay and receive your pass right away. To save time, you can download the application form Omnipas (Dutch version) (pdf - 130KB) .
you cannot receive some season tickets in a Lijnwinkel. See chapter 9.5 of our 'Algemene Reisvoorwaarden (Dutch version) (pdf - 693KB) of our for a list.

You can choose the starting date of your season ticket. An Omnipas is valid for 1 month, 3 months or 12 months.

Price (valid as of 1 February 2012)

How much you pay for your Omnipas depends on the validity period and on your age. There is an Omnipas for 1 month, 3 months or 12 months. People over 65 receive a free Omnipas 65+.

Discount

Do you use your season ticket for home-work travel? The normal employer contribution is 72% of the season ticket price. Some employers reimburse an even greater share of the season ticket price. Ask your employer about this.

Many cities and municipalities pay for part of the cost price of a season ticket via third party payer agreements. Ask your city or municipality about this.

How to use it?

Every time you board you show the driver your season ticket. This isn't necessary on trams and buses where you can board via the middle or back door. If you possess an Omnipas a maximum of 4 children aged 6 to 11 years can travel with you for free.

You must always be able to show your Omnipas and ID card during a ticket inspection. To make inspection possible, never plasticize your season ticket. In our Lijnwinkels you can obtain a free protective sleeve for your season ticket.

Strictly personal

The Omnipas is a personalised ticket and is strictly personal: only the owner can use it. Our ticket inspectors and drivers regularly check the validity of tickets and passes. You must show your Omnipas and your ID card during every inspection.

Renewal

Approximately one month before the Omnipas expires, you will receive a letter regarding a renewal. If you use a third party payer system in which the city or municipality pays for part of the season ticket then the discount will be taken into account on the bank transfer.

Lost or stolen

Did you lose your season ticket or was it stolen? After paying the administrative costs and giving us a written declaration of theft or loss you will receive a duplicate from the Lijnwinkel.

A duplicate costs €10 regardless of the number of duplicates that you requested in the past.

Via the  you can request a duplicate in writing from De Lijn's Subscription Service.
If you have forgotten your Omnipas or if it was stolen and you board a De Lijn vehicle then you must have another valid ticket. If you do not, you risk a fine. De Lijn does not reimburse these costs.

Reimbursement

If you terminate your season ticket before it expires, we will reimburse part of the purchase price. You must give us the original season ticket (not a duplicate) and your bank account number.
The amount that we reimburse depends on when you give us your season ticket. If you terminate via post the postal date counts. There are two possibilities:

  1. Termination before the starting date of the validity period:if you return your season ticket before the starting date then we will reimburse the full purchase price minus €10 administration costs.
  2. Termination after the starting date of the validity period: the amount to be reimbursed is determined by the cost price of the season ticket minus €10 administration costs and an amount that corresponds with how long you used the season ticket.

This last amount is calculated as follows:

  • the price per complete 3-month period or multiple 3-month periods and then the price per complete month or multiple months
  • per incomplete month a fixed percentage of the price of a monthly pass according to the table below:

number of days in use% deducted from price monthly pass
116 %
226 %
3 tot 730 %
846 %
956 %
1060 %
11 to 1461 %
1576 %
1686 %
1790 %
18 to 2191 %
22 to 31100 %

If you turn in your Omnipas because you received another season ticket from De Lijn then De Lijn reimburses your original Omnipas after you turn it in. The amount depends of the number of days that your Omnipas is still valid before the starting date of your new season ticket. This also applies if you receive a season ticket from another public transport company that is also valid on De Lijn's network.

If the Omnipas is turned in due to death of the owner then the reimbursement is based on the ratio between the number of unused calendar days and the length of validity of the Omnipass.

If the reimbursement amount after deducting the €10 administration costs is less than €1 then this will not be reimbursed.
