Yes. You can purchase tickets or day passes on all buses and trams. Please note: tickets purchased in a sales point are up to 50% cheaper than those purchased on a bus or tram.
To encourage customers to purchase their tickets in advance, tickets are more expensive on the bus or tram.
Selling tickets on the vehicle takes up a great deal of time. To recuperate some of that time, we want to sell as many tickets and Lijn cards as possible outside the vehicle. That's why we are looking for sales points across Flanders.
If there isn't enough balance on your Lijn card to pay for the journey, the validation machine will communicate this. You simply pay the driver the difference with a new Lijn card or with cash.
Please note: if you use a Lijn card purchased in advance, you can only pay the driver the remaining balance in cash or with another Lijn card purchased in advance.
If a ticket vending machine is out of order you can purchase a ticket from the driver at the "Sales on the vehicle" price. You can obtain compensation afterwards. Call De Lijn Info on 070 220 200 (€0,30/min).
The third party payment card 5 euro is an example of a so-called third party payment agreement.
To stimulate the use of public transport, municipalities can conclude a third party payment agreement with De Lijn. That means the municipality pays for all or part of the public transport costs. The passenger travels for free or cheaper with the bus or tram.
You can use the third party payment card 5 euro (Municipality Card) for a trip within that municipality/area. The third party payment card is only for sale in our sales points.
The regular 8 euro Lijn card is valid on all De Lijn buses and trams throughout Flanders and Brussels.
Yes, De Lijn has sales points in Brussels. You can search for sales points per municipality.
Just like in the rest of Flanders, you can purchase a ticket in advance or on the vehicle in Brussels. For trips that involve several public transport companies (De Lijn, MIVB, TEC and NMBS) you can use a Jump ticket or Jump day pass.
The Jump tickets follow the fares of the MIVB. De Lijn doesn't offer Jump tickets via its sales points; the MIVB does sell Jump tickets.
You can contact De Lijn Info (070 220 200 - €0,30/min) to ask whether your planned journey is a 'short distance' or a 'long distance'.
Alternatively, you can use a Lijn card. A Lijn card is proportionally cheaper than a ticket and you can use it for 'short distance' trips and 'long distance' trips.
Yes. Groups of at least 5 people, who stay together throughout the entire journey, can use a Lijnkaart %. This ticket can be purchased in advance.
