In the first place, basic accessibility is of course about you and all public transport users. The aim of this Flemish government initiative is to ensure that you can travel easily and comfortably.

In addition, basic accessibility will enable us to use our vehicles and our financial and other resources more efficiently. By better matching public transport more closely to the demand from our travellers, we will combine our capabilities in the places where you need us most.

Once basic accessibility is up and running, we expect an increase in the number of travellers by 7% across Flanders and as much as 15% in some cities. Public transport will thus make a serious contribution to a more environmentally friendly, more liveable and safer Flanders.
