Safety measures

We’re using all kinds of safety measures to ensure that you can get out and about again this summer with peace of mind. Visiting family and friends, going on cultural and sporting outings – it’s time to enjoy the things that really count. Like to know what we’re doing to make your ride COVID-proof? Then read on!

Check our crowd barometer

In our app you’ll find the crowd barometer. With this handy tool, you can quickly find out how much space there is on your line. Check it before you set out or while travelling to instantly find out whether there’s enough seating or standing room.

Use the colour codes to travel with peace of mind and in comfort. Green, yellow or red icons indicate how busy a service is. You’ll find them next to the line number in the app. So how does the crowd barometer work? It’s based on the number of registered MOBIB scans and on physical counts that we perform regularly. It’s therefore very important to scan your ticket correctly, as by doing so you are helping our crowd barometer to work properly.

Ventilated buses and trams

We have made a point of ventilating our vehicles right from the start of the coronavirus crisis. It makes sense to do this, because the risk of infection is lower in well-ventilated spaces.

That’s why it’s so important to ventilate our buses and trams. We keep a close eye on things by means of CO₂ values. We perform regular measurements in passenger compartments and driver’s cabs, and closely monitor the results. When we ventilate properly – and thus achieve good CO₂ measurements – microdroplets are pushed out of the vehicle and the risk of infection decreases sharply.

Extra-disinfected vehicles

As well as ventilating our vehicles, we also thoroughly disinfect and clean them. Extra cleaning teams have been working very hard to ensure you a safe ride since the very start of the pandemic. Particular attention is paid to the parts that you often touchas a passenger: poles, push buttons, handrails and so on.
We have also designed a procedure for deep cleaning, which involves extra attention for vehicles if a passenger was or is suspected of having been infected.

Paying contactlessly

We have introduced contactless payment on our vehicles over the last year. At the white terminals you pay for your ride with your contactless bank card or medium, such as a smartphone or smart watch. It’s easy, quick and above all hygienic, because you touch less.

Alternatively, opt for a travel pass on a MOBIB card that you scan, a digital ticket in our app or an sms-ticket, for example. In short, there are plenty of options for staying safe while you travel!

Our inspectors are looking out for you

Our inspectors play an important twofold role. As well as checking that you have a valid ticket, they also keep a close eye on things to ensure that everything is done safely. They inform, raise awareness and look after you by seeing to it that passengers are spread out properly, for example.

They also know the current coronavirus measures inside out, and will draw your attention to anything that isn’t right. For instance, if you’re not wearing your face mask or are wearing it incorrectly, you risk being given a fine.

Follow the safety measures

We can ensure safe travel by working together, so here’s a reminder of the applicable measures:

  • Keep your distance at our stops, in our stations and on our vehicles.
  • Buy your ticket in advance.
  • Get on and off in the middle or at the back of the bus or tram. Are you travelling on a dial-a-bus without any separation between you and the driver? On arrival, the driver will stop the vehicle and get out. This gives you the time and space to get out too – and the process will be repeated when you get on. And remember: let the other passengers get off first, after which you can get on at your leisure.

But the most important measure is wearing your face mask correctly. From the age of 13 you are required to do this in all our stations, at our stops and on the bus or tram. If you are unable to wear a face mask for medical reasons, there are alternatives.
