Brussels-North - Brussels Airport
From the heart of the capital to the airport in 25 minutes.
This route runs via Leopold III-laan and a new viaduct over the Brussels ring road. Within the ring road, the tram will use the existing MIVB-STIB infrastructure.
Tram line’s social relevance
In the SCBA file you can read all about the tram line’s social relevance, while in the EIA file you can find out what consequences the project could have for the environment.
Multimodal accessibility
With the Airport Tram project, we are aiming to achieve not just improved accessibility by public transport, but also improved accessibility by bicycle. Businesses in the region of the airport are currently based on car accessibility, but with this project we are targeting multimodal accessibility. The businesses will be located at the intersection of three cycle highways (FR0, F201 and F202), two local train stops (Diegem and Zaventem) and four tram stops. At the moment it is difficult for us to give an estimate of the completion date. As land purchases will need to be made, the work will probably not be able to start until after 2022.
