Carpooling
Carpooling is a service from Taxistop and De Lijn, with support from the Flemish Region. Carpoolers share the cost of driving to work. As well as being fun and sociable, carpooling also saves you a lot of money. Moreover, it’s a way of contributing to a healthier environment.
How does it work?
Via the carpool bank you can find a fellow-commuter to drive to work with in order to share the costs. The carpool bank has a database of people requesting and offering carpool places from all over Belgium. As an individual you can enter your request in the database. You will immediately receive a list of possible carpool partners whom you can contact. For companies and organisations, there is a package to promote carpooling among employees.
Carpooling: flexibility is an asset
Together with your fellow-commuter or fellow-commuters, choose the formula that suits you best:
You can take turns to drive, or one of you can be the regular driver.
You can meet at home, at a central carpool car park, or at a railway station on the route.
You can drive right to the door of the company or institution where you work, or to a park and ride at the edge of the city.
You can arrange to carpool with colleagues, or drive together with employees from your area who work for a business in the same neighbourhood.
You can drive together every day, or a few days per week.
