Permit for Works Around Antwerp Tram Network

This page is intended for contractors, utility companies, construction organizers, and individuals planning work on or around the tram network of De Lijn in Antwerp. We aim to guide them step by step through the permit process and provide all the information centrally.

It is very important to understand and correctly follow the permitting procedure when conducting work near tram infrastructure. Work is sometimes started without De Lijn’s permission, which poses risks to safety, infrastructure, and service delivery. And, of course, we want to avoid this at all times.

What should you do if you’re planning work near tram infrastructure?

To ensure everyone’s safety and keep our service running smoothly, you’ll need permits.

When performing work on De Lijn installations or near tram infrastructure, you must first determine where this work will take place.

Two different procedures, depending on the location

Working near an installation of De Lijn and in the public domain

Plan your activities at a location
where you take over the public domain of the City of Antwerp;
and that is near a facility of De Lijn (overhead line, tram bed, metro).
Procedure 1

Working on an installation of De Lijn and on the private domain of De Lijn

Plan your activities on a private domain of De Lijn
Buildings
Premetro and/or tunnels
Bus/tram depots
This means that as a contractor, you work directly for De Lijn.
Procedure 2
