Sustainability vision
When looking for mobility solutions, sustainability can no longer be ignored as a social theme. Therefore it has been included as a De Lijn’s strategic objective. Indeed we need to be the driving force behind sustainable mobility in Flanders. For us, this sustainability goes beyond the use of sustainable vehicles - and its positive environmental impact. It includes the environment, our buildings, energy efficiency, the choice of suppliers, ... It’s also about how we treat our employees, how we engage and motivate them, how we involve and protect them, … And it is also about our broader place in society: our relationship with all our stakeholders, our inclusive role as an employer and transport company.
Why such a broad view?
Apart from our convictions and our social commitment, we are convinced: sustainable development creates added value for our stakeholders, due to sustainable development we build resilience – in order for De Lijn to be ready for the future. A sustainable future.

Every year, the sustainability report provides an overview of sustainability projects. This enables De Lijn to give a clear picture of how our social projects are progressing. The sustainability report is part of our integrated annual report.

Membership of De Lijn is a logical next step in all the initiatives we are already taking today to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.
