Your Student Bus Pass on a MOBIB card
Your Student Bus Pass will be on a MOBIB card. This smart card serves as a carrier for your bus travel pass. Think of the card as being like a bank card onto which you can load tickets or passes. For the MOBIB card, which is valid for 5 years, you pay a one-off 6-euro fee.
Your application for your Student Bus Pass should be made to your educational institution. How does it work?
You already have a MOBIB card from De Lijn
Visit your educational institution/student office and pay 10 euros.
Your Student Bus Pass will then be uploaded automatically and you can use it after a few days. The bus pass will be activated the first time you scan the card.
You have a MOBIB card from another transport operator (TEC, MIVB-STIB, NMBS-SNCB)
First register your MOBIB card in a Lijnwinkel store. Only then can a De Lijn product be placed on it.
Visit your educational institution/student office and pay 10 euros.
Your Student Bus Pass will then be uploaded automatically and you can use it after a few days. The bus pass will be activated the first time you scan the card.
You don’t have a MOBIB card yet
First buy a MOBIB card via our website via 'My account'. Of course, we will also continue to be available for you in a Lijnwinkel to buy your MOBIB card. Don't forget your identity card. If you do not have an ID card or Belgian national register number, please bring a passport photo and a document that proves your identity, such as a driver's license, passport, registration document or birth certificate.
For the card, which is valid for 5 years, you pay a one-off administration fee of EUR 6. This electronic chip card serves as a carrier for your bus pass. Compare it to a bank card where you can recharge your transport tickets.
You will then receive a MOBIB card by post at your official address or correspondence address (if you have communicated this).
You can then visit the Howest, Vives, Kulak or UGent Campus Kortrijk to apply for and pay for a Student Bus Pass. It will then be automatically loaded onto your card. You can use it after a few working days.

The basic rules
Scan your card whenever you get on or off. Hold the card in front of the blue circle at the bottom of the yellow scanner.
Your student bus pass on the MOBIB card is only valid if you scan the card every time you board and transfer. You must use a different ticket until you have a MOBIB card with a valid student bus pass on it.
You can carry on into the vehicle when the tick on a green field appears.
Don’t scan your card when you get off.

You can easily check this yourself. Press the info button on a MOBIB scanner on the bus, then scan your card. Your current and future travel passes will be shown. It’s also easy to manage your travel passes online and check at any time what travel passes you have and when they are valid until.

This student pass is the result of an agreement between De Lijn, the institutions involved and Kortrijk city council.
