Escalator platform A out of service

The ascending escalator from platform A is out of service due to a significant technical defect, necessitating major repairs. The work is expected to last until the end of December. Persistent problems with the escalators

Due to ongoing technical issues and a negative safety recommendation from our maintenance partner regarding the descending escalator at Groenplaats, which was commissioned in 1975, this escalator will be taken out of service. Safety is a priority for De Lijn. As an alternative, we advise using the escalators in the Grand Bazar during its opening hours. The entrance to the Grand Bazar is located at the corner of Groenplaats and Schoenmarkt, about 50 meters from the main entrance of the Groenplaats metro station. The technical problems with the escalators are mainly due to the age of the equipment, making replacement parts no longer commonly available. The renovation of the escalators is planned to coincide with the station's renovation. Until then, we are doing everything possible, in collaboration with our technical maintenance partner, to address the issues.
