Accessibility policy

De Lijn works to provide convenient public transport for everyone. To achieve this, we are constantly improving our services and making them uniform for all passengers.

Inclusiveness is an important element of De Lijn’s strategic objective for corporate social responsibility. Key considerations for the implementation of the accessibility policy are included in De Lijn’s management agreement and business plan.

The most important points on which we focus are:

  • accessible vehicles and stops

  • accessible travel information, in both digital and non-digital form

  • fares that must be affordable for everyone (link naar kortingen nog toevoegen)

  • customer-friendly reception of people with disabilities

  • consultation with stakeholders about accessibility

  • a clear role for public and adapted transport

Cooperation and partners

  • Inter: For the development of its accessibility policy, De Lijn works with Inter, the Agency for Accessible Flanders.

  • Noozo: De Lijn talks to Noozo, the Flemish Advisory Board for People with Disabilities.

  • Users: We regularly draw on the experience of our passengers. We did so, for example, when optimising the accessibility of our app.

  • Accessibility Expertise Unit: De Lijn is part of the Accessibility Expertise Unit, together with the Department of Mobility and Public Works, the Roads and Traffic Administration and Inter. This unit is working on a monitoring system for accessibility within the ‘basic accessibility’ framework.
