Limburg Campus Pass

Are you studying at Hasselt University, PXL or UCLL? You are entitled to affordable travel between certain stops for a whole year – for just 20 euros. Important! Have you not yet received your permanent student bus pass? Collect a temporary student bus pass from your educational institution. This temporary pass is valid until the end of the academic year or until you receive your permanent student bus pass.

1. Hasselt University Campus Pass and PXL Campus Pass

Unlimited, affordable bus travel in (almost all of)Hasselt and Diepenbeek

The Campus Pass is the ideal choice for Hasselt University and Hogeschool PXL students. For just 20 euros, you can travel to all the places that are important to you for a whole year: from your student lodgings to the railway station and from your sports club to class.

Your Campus Pass is valid for one academic year, from 14 September to 13 September, throughout the week and at the weekend as well as during the summer holidays.

Where is your Campus Pass valid?

Your Campus Pass is valid in Hasselt and Diepenbeek and you can travel to these stops freely.

If you travel beyond the validity area, your Campus Pass is not valid, and you must buy another ticket.

How do you obtain a Hasselt University Campus Pass?

Order and pay for the Campus Pass online through your educational institution.

Your Campus Pass is held on a MOBIB card.

How does it work?

  • You already have a MOBIB card from De Lijn

    • After you have ordered and paid, your Campus Pass will automatically be placed on your card. You can use it after a few working days.

  • You have a MOBIB card from another transport operator (TEC, MIVB-STIB, NMBS-SNCB)

    • First go to a Lijnwinkel store with your card and get it registered.

    • When you’ve done this, order and pay for your Campus Pass through your digital student file. It will then be automatically placed on your card. You can use it after a few working days.

  • You don’t have a MOBIB card yet

    • First buy a MOBIB card via our website via 'My account'. Of course, we will also continue to be available for you in a Lijnwinkel to buy your MOBIB card. Don't forget your identity card. If you do not have an ID card or Belgian national register number, please bring a passport photo and a document that proves your identity, such as a driver's license, passport, registration document or birth certificate.

    • For the card, which is valid for 5 years, you pay a one-off administration fee of EUR 6. This electronic chip card serves as a carrier for your bus pass. Compare it to a bank card where you can recharge your transport tickets.

    • You will then receive a MOBIB card by post at your official address or correspondence address (if you have communicated this).

    • Only once you have received your MOBIB card or the number of your MOBIB card can you order and pay for the campus pass via your digital student file. It will then be automatically loaded onto your card. You can use it after a few working days.

Temporary Campus Pass

While waiting to receive your Campus Pass, you can get a temporary one from one of the educational institutions. This temporary pass is valid for 2 weeks, allowing you to travel until you have your permanent Campus Pass.

How do you obtain a PXL Campus Pass?

Your Campus Pass is held on a MOBIB card. How exactly does this work?

Your MOBIB card

There are three possibilities:

  • You already have a MOBIB card from De Lijn

    • You can contact PXL directly to apply for and pay for a Campus Pass.

  • You have a MOBIB card from another transport operator (TEC, MIVB-STIB, NMBS-SNCB)

    • First go to a Lijnwinkel store with your card and get it registered.

    • You can then contact PXL to apply for and pay for a Campus Pass.

  • You don’t have a MOBIB card yet

    • First buy a MOBIB card via our website via 'My account'. Of course, we will also continue to be available for you in a Lijnwinkel to buy your MOBIB card. Don't forget your identity card. If you do not have an ID card or Belgian national register number, please bring a passport photo and a document that proves your identity, such as a driver's license, passport, registration document or birth certificate.

2. UCLL Campus Pass

Affordable bus travel in (almost all of) Genk, Hasselt and Diepenbeek

The Campus Pass is the ideal choice for students. For just 20 euros, you can travel to all the places that are important to you for a whole year: from your student lodgings to the railway station and from your sports club to class. Your Campus Pass is valid for one academic year, from 14 September to 13 September, throughout the week and at the weekend as well as during the summer holidays. There are two versions:

  • Hasselt Campus Pass: Your Campus Pass is valid in Hasselt and Diepenbeek.

  • Genk Campus Pass: Your Campus Pass is valid in Genk city centre, as well as in parts of Diepenbeek, Waterschei, Winterslag and Lutselus.

Depending on which Campus Pass you choose, it is valid either in Hasselt and Diepenbeek or in Genk city centre and parts of Diepenbeek:

If you travel beyond the validity area, your Campus Pass is not valid, and you must buy another ticket.

How do you obtain a UCLL Campus Pass?

Apply for your Campus Pass when you (re-)enrol or online using the form on the UCLL intranet. A Campus Pass costs 20 euros and you will receive an invoice for it.  Your Campus Pass is held on a MOBIB card.

Is your pass already on your MOBIB card?

You can easily check this yourself. Press the info button on a MOBIB scanner on the bus, then scan your card. Your current and future travel passes will be shown. It’s also easy to manage your travel passes online and check at any time what travel passes you have and when they are valid until.

How to use your Campus Pass: Scanning is required

  • Getting on: Don’t forget to scan your pass whenever you board or transfer. You do this by holding the MOBIB card in front of the blue circle at the bottom of the MOBIB scanner. If a tick appears on the screen, you can carry on into the vehicle.

  • Getting off: You don’t have to do anything.

  • Ticket inspections: Your MOBIB card is strictly personal: you alone are allowed to use it. If there’s a ticket inspection, you will be asked to show your MOBIB card and your identity card.
