Transport region Antwerp

The transport region manager: your first point of contact.

Stefan Van den Abbeele

My name is Stefan Van den Abbeele and I’m your transport region manager. I am your first point of contact at De Lijn.

In the near future, the design of public transport will be different from today. This is because the Flemish government has opted for basic accessibility. This demand-driven transport concept deploys resources where the need is greatest. To achieve basic accessibility, Flanders will be divided into 15 transport regions, and a layered and integrated transport system will be set up that focuses on combined mobility.

De Lijn has adapted its organisation to this new approach to mobility in Flanders and the transport region system.

A team of transport region managers – one per region – is ready to work hard to meet the many mobility challenges. For the transport region to which your municipality belongs, I am therefore your point of contact at De Lijn. I am assisted in this role by a transport region expert.

Within De Lijn I also work closely with a team of experts in mobility development and research, network planning, traffic flow, technology, communication and many other fields. As a transport region manager at De Lijn, I am therefore the first point of contact for local authorities and stakeholders, and I’m happy to put my expertise at their service.

We attend meetings of the transport region council, where we discuss a whole range of topics: from the core and supplementary network to traffic flow and accessible stops. I also propose combination mobility or digital possibilities. I can visit you to discuss mobility in your city or municipality and to work on projects with you.

Together we can work on high-quality and multimodal mobility plans in Flanders.

I look forward to a close working relationship.
