Maximising digital communication is something we’re fully committed to at De Lijn. After all, why waste paper when there’s an alternative? Whatever you want to know, you can find it at delijn.be and in our app! And when it really is necessary to use paper, we print on sustainable paper and ensure that it is sent sustainably.
First and foremost: digitise!
We’ve made it possible for all our bus and tram tickets to be obtained digitally.

You can buy a ticket
on the vehicle using your bank card or smart device with contactless payment
. Just hold it in front of the white terminal and it’s done!
For those who haven’t yet gone completely digital or contactless, paper tickets still exist. You can buy them in a Lijnwinkel store or from a ticket machine.
You’ll also find all other communications primarily online. In this way we’ve minimised the need for leaflets!
Still in paper form? Then we’ve made it as sustainable as possible.
Sometimes paper is still necessary, of course. That’s why we’ve chosen a sustainable partner for all our printed communication – a printer that really cares about socially responsible and environmentally friendly business.
For example, it was the first in Belgium to offer climate-neutral printing and has been a completely climate-neutral company since 2010. This means that its ecological footprint is kept as small as possible and then fully offset through investment in sustainable development projects.
We also send letters the green way, with bpost!
When we send letters we rely on bpost, the Belgian postal operator. It too is CO₂-neutral and offsets its emissions by investing in a project that enables access to clean water in Eritrea. The ideal partner with which to move towards less CO₂.

Because we work with bpost and state this on all our letters and envelopes, we have received the CO₂ Logic certificate for the second time. A nice mark of recognition!
