Ethias
More than half of the Flemish Ethias employees tried out the business 10-ride card. How did that go? You can read about it in this article.
Strong motivation
When De Lijn invited us for the pilot phase, we were immediately enthusiastic. The initiative perfectly matched our sustainability ambitions within Ethias, and more specifically, our commitment to becoming CO2-neutral. Sustainable mobility has been an integral part of our strategy for years. For instance, we have largely electrified our company car fleet, launched an attractive bike leasing plan with necessary incentives, and have been covering public transport costs for our employees for quite some time. Nonetheless, we noticed that the car was still the preferred choice for many colleagues. Thanks to this collaboration with De Lijn, we can provide an extra push towards more sustainable commuting, aligning seamlessly with our values as a socially responsible insurer.
Internal appeal, with results
We convincingly joined De Lijn's pilot project and happily signed up for the business 10-trip card. Three months ago, we informed our 532 employees through a targeted email campaign that included a registration form, as well as communication on our intranet. The response was remarkably positive: 280 colleagues registered and created a De Lijn account with their professional email address. This is a clear signal that there is support within Ethias for more sustainable mobility solutions.
Overwhelmingly positive response
The reactions were clearly very positive and exceeded all our expectations. The unions were positive about this project and even found it to be a clear and efficient tool, fitting hand in hand with our paperless transition towards a digital work environment.
Greatest advantage
We believe the strength of the business 10-trip card lies in its reach and accessibility. It is an especially effective means to persuade colleagues who only occasionally use public transport to give buses and trams a try in a low-threshold way. Within Ethias, we notice that this card is a real incentive: it lowers the barrier and perfectly aligns with our vision of sustainable mobility.
Future plans
What do we want to do with it in the future? We see potential in using it for the opening of new offices, where we can temporarily support employees in their commutes. Additionally, we want to integrate it into our recruitment process as an extra advantage for new colleagues who choose a sustainable start with Ethias.
