De Lijn Flex in the province of East Flanders

In the province of East Flanders there are four different major regions: the Dender Region, the Gent Region, the Flemish Ardennes Region and the Waasland Region. Where and when does the flexbus run in your region? Find out on this page.

Aalst Region

Dender Region flex area 

We’re further expanding flexible transport with the Dender Region flex area. The flexbus will now operate in the municipalities of Aalst, Berlare, Buggenhout, Denderleeuw, Dendermonde, Erpe-Mere, Haaltert, Hamme, Lebbeke, Lede, Ninove and Wichelen. You can also use flexible transport later in the evening.

Gent Region

In the Gent Region you can now rely on flexible transport in all municipalities. There are two different flex areas operating in this region, so be sure to check thee flex area pages for Gent East and West to see which stops you can take the flexbus at

Gent (East) Region 

The flexbus runs within the Gent (East) Region flex area in the following municipalities: Nazareth-De Pinte, Destelbergen, Gent, Laarne, Lochristi, Merelbeke-Melle, and Wetteren. 

Gent (West) Region 

The flexbus runs within the Gent (West) Region flex area in the following municipalities: Aalter, Assenede, Deinze, Eeklo, Evergem, Gavere, Gent, Kaprijke, Lievegem, Maldegem, Merelbeke-Melle, Nazareth, Sint-Laureins, Sint-Martens-Latem, Lochristi, Zulte and Zelzate. From Maldegem you can also cross the border into the Netherlands (towards Aardenburg and Sluis) via the Maldegem – Sluis flex area

Flemish Ardennes Region 

Flemish Ardennes Region flex area 

In the Flemish Ardennes Region you continue to count on the flexbus. The Flemish Ardennes Region flex area includes the following municipalities: Brakel, Geraardsbergen, Herzele, Horebeke, Kluisbergen, Kruisem, Lierde, Maarkedal, Merelbeke-Melle, Oosterzele, Oudenaarde, Ronse, Sint-Lievens-Houtem, Wortegem-Petegem, Zottegem and Zwalm.

Flex area Night Oudenaarde – NEW

From 6 January 2025, we will provide night flex on Friday and Saturday evenings until approximately 1:30 at night in the Oudenaarde area. You can then travel even later to and from stops of a number of fixed lines in the region.

This concerns the stops of:

  • line 30 between Oudenaarde Station and Zegelsem Teirlinckstraat

  • line 40 between Oudenaarde Tacambaro and Nederzwalm Stationsstraat

  • line 41 between Oudenaarde Tacambaro and Heurne Sint-Amandusstraat

  • line 58 between Oudenaarde Station and Wortegem Town Hall

  • line 61 between Oudenaarde Station and Ronse Station (entire route)

  • line 65 between Oudenaarde Station and Ruien Wuipelstraat

  • line 83 between Oudenaarde Tacambaro and Kruishoutem Tramstatie

The flexbus Nacht Oudenaarde runs on Friday and Saturday between 10pm and 1.30am.

Waasland Region 

In the Waasland we provide flexible transport in two flex areas (Waasland Region East and West). You should therefore be sure to check the flex area pages to see which stops you can take the flexbus at

Waasland Region (East) flex area 

The Waasland Region (East) flex area serves the municipalities of Kruibeke and Temse. You can also take this flexbus south of the N70 in Beveren. You can also use it to get to the hospital in Bornem, the Waasland Shopping Center and the Parkbegraafplaats cemetery in Sint-Niklaas. 

Waasland Region (West) flex area 

In the Waasland Region (West) flex area, the flexbus runs in the municipalities of Lokeren, Moerbeke, Sint-Gillis-Waas, Stekene and Zele. You can also use it to get to the Puyenbroeck provincial domain and even cross the border to Hulst.
