Tip:

  • Children under the age of six travel for free, but must always be accompanied by a paying passenger who is at least 12 years old. View terms and conditions.

  • Did you know that you also have one opportunity to pass on your purchased (unused) tickets via the app or website? Here’s how you do it.

How do you use a digital ticket via the De Lijn app or website?

  • Buy your ticket via the website or app. It will then be in your ticket zone.

  • Before you board, you still need to activate it, which can also be done in our app or on our website.Only then can you travel for 60 minutes on all our buses and trams (except the Student Express Lines 178 and 179). Note that the name on your account must be the same as on your identity card.

How do you buy a ticket contactlessly on the vehicle?

  • As soon as you board, hold a contactless means of payment such as a bank card, smartphone or smart watch in front of the white terminal. It must be less than four centimetres away. Hold your means of payment in front of the same white terminal for each traveller within two minutes. You can pay for up to five travellers.

  • A green tick will then appear on the screen and you will hear a sound signal that confirms that you have successfully boarded or transferred. The second time you will see the message ‘number of travellers: 2’, and the third time ‘number of travellers: 3’ and so on. What if you do this too many times (i.e. six times)? You’ll see a red screen and ‘Number of allowed travellers is reached’.

  • You can transfer to another bus or tram within 60 minutes, in which case you should hold the same means of payment in front of the terminal again. Do this whenever you transfer for every traveller in your group.

How do you use a ticket via text?

  • Buy your ticket before you board by texting DL to 4884. You will receive a reply message that counts as a valid ticket. Only when you have received this message can you can travel for 60 minutes on all our buses and trams (except the Student Express Lines 178 and 179).

  • Are you traveling with multiple people? You can buy up to 5 tickets via SMS at a time with one text message, so you don’t have to pay the operator charge for each ticket via sms. Do this by typing a number between 2 and 5 after your sms code, for example DL5.

  • The ticket will be charged via your mobile provider and will appear on your next mobile phone bill. In the case of prepaid cards, the amount will be deducted from the call credit on your prepaid card.

How do you use your ticket on a card?

  • As soon as you board or transfer, scan your ticket. Hold the card in front of the blue circle at the bottom of the yellow scanner. You can then travel for 60 minutes on all our buses and trams (except the Student Express Lines 178 and 179). You can complete your last ride, of course.

  • Do you want to know if your ticket is still valid? First press the info button on the scanner and then scan your card. You’ll then be able to see how long your ticket is still valid for. But you can also check this online.
