Antwerp: frequency change P5 during summer

From July 1 through August 31, we will be adjusting the schedule for shuttle bus P5 (Opera – Van Eeden). During the summer vacation, the shuttle bus will run every ten minutes throughout the day between the Left Bank and Rechteroever.

During the summer vacation, we’ll be adjusting the frequency of nearly all our routes.

Every ten minutes between Linkeroever and Rechteroever

From July 1 through August 31, the shuttle bus will run every ten minutes every day, from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m. That means there will be six buses per hour. We will continue to use articulated buses on this route, which can carry more than a hundred passengers.

Currently, eight buses per hour operate on the route during the day from Monday through Friday (from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.). Early in the morning, late at night, and on Sundays and holidays, six buses per hour operate.

Travel time slightly reduced

We are also slightly reducing the travel time for the shuttle buses. Monitoring during the first few weeks has shown that the buses are covering the route faster than we had anticipated. The shorter travel times will therefore better reflect reality.

The travel times will soon be updated on all our communication channels. Passengers can plan their route using the route planner or the app.

Alternatives During Tunnel Renovation

Shuttle bus P5 is one of the most successful alternatives during the Antwerp Metro tunnel renovation. Since the start of the tunnel renovation on May 4, 2026, an average of about 10,000 passengers have taken the shuttle bus between Linkeroever and Rechteroever every workday. On Sundays, ridership is lower, at about 5,700 passengers per day.
