Gent: buses replace free shuttles to P+R Lübeck and P+R Watersportbaan

Since 6 January 2024, you can use regular bus lines to get from P+R Lübeck and P+R Watersportbaan to the city centre and back again. This route used to be served by free shuttles, but don’t worry: we’ll continue to provide affordable transport. The City of Gent offers you a low-cost return ticket.

From P+R Lübeck to Gent city centre with line 6

The Weba/Decathlon park-and-ride no longer exists. The new, temporary P+R Lübeck has been opened nearby on Afrikalaan. You can travel from P+R Lübeck to Gent city centre at a very affordable price with bus line 6

Check the timetable via the app or website before your trip.

Practical details:

  • Take bus line 6 at the P+R Lübeck stop towards Gent Zuid. Line 6 takes you from Gent city centre to Sint-Jacobs, Gent Zuid and other destinations.

  • Text ‘GENT PR LUBECK’ to 4884 (tickets not obtainable through the app or at the machine).

    • You will pay an operator charge of 0.25 euro for this.

    • You will receive a reply message, which you must present if there is a ticket inspection. 

    • Are you travelling as part of a group of people? Then enter the number of travellers right after your texted code, without any spaces. E.g.: GENT PR LUBECK3. Sms-tickets only work with Belgian telecom operators.

  • Returning to the P+R? The sms-ticket is valid for 48 hours. Take bus 6 in the direction of P+R Muide.

From P+R Watersportbaan to Gent city centre with line 11

You can also travel from P+R Watersportbaan to Gent city centre at a very affordable price with bus line 11.

Check the timetable via the app or website before your trip.

Practical details:

  • Take bus line 11 at the P+R Watersportbaan stop towards Gentbrugge. It is not possible to board at the Topsporthal Vlaanderen stop. Line 11 takes you from Gent city centre to Korenmarkt, Sint-Jacobs and other destinations.

  • Buy a ticket from the machine* at the P+R Watersportbaan stop (tickets not obtainable via app, text or other machines).

    • You will pay 0.15 euro per ticket for this.

    • The ticket is only valid on the section of line 11’s route from the P+R Watersportbaan stop to the Dampoort stop. It is not valid on line 11 between Dampoort and Gentbrugge.

    • You must present your purchased and validated ticket if there is an inspection.

  • Returning to P+R Watersportbaan? The ticket is valid for 48 hours. Take bus 11 back in the direction of P+R Watersportbaan and scan the same ticket when boarding.

  • Note: If the ticket machine does not work, you must purchase an alternative (paid) ticket in order to travel. De Lijn will not refund the purchase of this alternative ticket.
