Measures in response to coronavirus:

Dial-a-bus services will run again from Monday 11 May, and can be booked from Monday 4 May.

Because we care for each other, the following guidelines apply:

  • Passengers (+12) are required to wear a face mask on the bus during the entire journey.
  • The number of passengers per trip is limited to a maximum of six for a dial-a-bus and four for a taxi.
  • To ensure that the social distance of 1.50 metres is maintained while passengers are getting on and off, the driver should stop the bus on arriving at the stop, get out, let the passenger get on and then get back on him- or herself. When a passenger gets off, the driver should follow the same procedure.
  • If you make a booking, the switchboard operator will also provide these guidelines over the phone.

Dial-a-bus

You can take the bus, even in thinly populated areas. To provide public transport in a cost efficient way we use the dial-a-bus here. These buses only run on request. They do not have a set route or timetable. The bus only stops at the De Lijn stops that are requested in advance from the dial-a-bus switchboard. The fares and tickets from De Lijn are also valid on the dial-a-bus.

Please note: all dial-a-bus centers in Ostend, Gentbrugge, Hasselt and Leuven close on:

  • Christmas Eve: December 24 at 6:00 PM
  • New Year's Eve: December 31 at 6:00 PM
