Free with the train… thanks to your Buzzy Pazz
Are you going to study in September – and need to go to the other side of the Scheldt? Then we have good news, because you can travel for free by train during the tunnel renovation.
1. Get a Buzzy Pazz from De Lijn
Are you under 25? Then, thanks to the Buzzy Pazz, you can ride all De Lijn buses and trams.

2. Apply for your free NMBS pass
Due to the extensive renovation work on the Antwerp metro, trams have been temporarily suspended since May 4, 2026, from P+R Melsele to Opera metro station on Rechteroever.
Do you have a Buzzy Pazz? Then, during the tunnel renovation, you can travel by train for free from Beveren, Melsele, Zwijndrecht, or Antwerp-Linkeroever stations to Antwerp-South, Antwerp-Berchem, and Antwerp Central.
To do so, you’ll need to apply for an NMBS pass.
You can apply for the free train pass through October 31, 2026.
You can choose which station you want to depart from: Beveren, Melsele, Zwijndrecht, or Antwerp-Linkeroever.
How do I use the NMBS pass?
If your application is approved, the NMBS pass will be loaded onto your MOBIB card.
You’ll first receive an email from NMBS with a certificate.
Take that to an NMBS ticket office, where they’ll load the pass onto your MOBIB card.
Only then will it be valid as a ticket on the train.
Are you 18 years or older? Be sure to bring a school certificate with you.
