Wondelgem/Evergem: T2 to Van Beverenplein

Major infrastructure works have begun in September 2025, significantly impacting bus and tram services in northern Ghent.

23 May 2025 - Tips, information and news

Work is being carried out at these locations:

  • Wiedauwkaai (reconstruction): starting in August.

  • Current ongoing work: R4 - Zeeschipstraat

  • Poperingestraat/Dikkelindestraat.

Avoid traffic stress by car during the work in this area and travel by bike, train, or bus for a smooth and reliable journey. See below for the adjusted line(s) and available alternatives.

Gebroeders De Smetstraat/Guislainstraat

The work is almost complete. Starting Monday, January 5, tram T2 can once again continue to Van Beverenplein! Please note: the Van Beverenplein stop will be located at the end of F. Ferrerlaan.

Poperingestraat and Dikkelindestraat

In 2026 – the exact start date is not yet known – (preparatory) work will begin in these streets, and tram T2 will not operate between Van Beverenplein and Wondelgem/Evergem until the end of 2028. The terminal stop will then be at Van Beverenplein.

De Lijn is carrying out these works in conjunction with the City of Ghent and Farys, and includes the renewal of sewer lines, tram tracks, and the roadway.

During the works from September 2025 to the end of 2028, you can use these alternative lines:

Wiedauwkaai

From september 2025, the reorganization of Wiedauwkaai will continue. As a result, the buses on lines 55, 56, 562, 563, 564, and 565 will take a detour.

Lines 55, 56, 562, 563, 564, and 565 will maintain their adjusted routes via Morekstraat, then follow their usual route via Neuseplein back to Gent Sint-Pieters (line 55) and Zuid (56, 562, 563, 564, and 565).
