The most important points on which we focus are:

  • a clear role for public and adapted transport
  • more accessible vehicles and stops
  • clear travel information, including about accessibility
  • customer-friendly reception of people with disabilities
  • consultation with stakeholders about accessibility

Cooperation and partners

  • Inter
For the development of its accessibility policy, De Lijn has a cooperation agreement with Inter, the Agency for Accessible Flanders.
  • Users:
We draw on the experience of our passengers, for example in creating a monitoring system for accessibility within the ‘basic accessibility’ framework. See also Accessibility Expertise Unit (below). De Lijn talks to Noozo: the Flemish Advisory Board for People with Disabilities.
  • Accessibility Expertise Unit:
De Lijn is part of the Accessibility Expertise Unit, together with the Department of Mobility and Public Works, the Roads and Traffic Administration and Inter. This unit is working on a monitoring system for accessibility within the ‘basic accessibility’ framework.
  • Master Plan for Accessible Stops:
The Flemish government’s Mobility and Public Works policy paper refers to the preparation of a Master Plan for Accessible Stops. De Lijn is participating together with the partners involved in the preparation of this plan, which is being handled by a working group of the Mobility and Public Works Policy Field Management Committee (MCB) project on basic accessibility, subproject 8.
