De Lijn Flex

De Lijn Flex is an on-demand transportation service that connects rural or less accessible areas with the regular public transportation network, such as buses, trams, or trains.

If you cannot complete your route or can only partially do so using regular public transportation (bus, tram, train, or metro), then De Lijn Flex may offer a solution.

When do you use De Lijn Flex?

Is there no bus or tram available on your route? Then De Lijn Flex might be something for you. It is on-demand transport, especially for areas where regular public transport does not or only partially operates.

When you request a ride via the De Lijn Flex app, website, or by phone, it is automatically checked if your trip (completely or partially) can be made using regular public transport like bus, tram, train, or metro. If so, you will be (partially) referred to that alternative.

We take into account factors such as walking distance, detour time, transfers, and availability. This way, we ensure that travelers who have a feasible alternative do not use the flexbus and that De Lijn Flex remains reserved for those who really have no other option.

Where and when does the flexbus operate?

The flexible transport is available in many municipalities in Flanders. We have organized all necessary information by province so you can quickly find the flexible service in your region and know where and when to rely on the flexbus.

What does a ride with the flexbus cost?

The regular travel tickets and fares of De Lijn apply on the flexbus. However, not all travel tickets are valid because the flexible transport does not have the same payment devices as a regular bus or tram.

Are you traveling with a subscription?

Then you need to register once during your first reservation

  • via the De Lijn Flex-app

  • via the De Lijn Flex-call center: 015 40 88 88

Buying single tickets?

Use a digital ticket from De Lijn.

  • You buy this via the De Lijn-app or on the website.

  • You cannot buy a ticket in the De Lijn Flex-app.

Inclusive flexible transport

Accessible vehicles are also part of the flexible offer. Those who need an accessible ride must report this during the first telephone reservation at the De Lijn Flex-call center.

Depending on mobility needs:

  • We provide an accessible vehicle.

  • You may directly follow the proposed combimobile route(s) with a single flexbus.

Are you travelling beyond your flexible travel zone?

Then you will still need to combine different modes of transport.

The conditions for the special accessibility status can be found in the General Travel Conditions.
